Ingredients

  • Non-stick cooking spray

  • 1 (7.5 oz) pkg refrigerated reduced-fat Homestyle biscuits (10 biscuits)

  • 4 tsp flaxseeds

  • 2 tsp granulated sugar

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 of a medium apple, cored and thinly sliced

  • 3 Tbsp coarsely chopped walnuts

  • 2 Tbsp packed brown sugar

  • 2 Tbsp orange juice

  • 1 Tbsp butter

  • 2 Tbsp reduced-fat cream cheese (Neufchatel) softened

  • 2 tsp orange juice

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Prepare Biscuits and Coating

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.

  2. Coat an 8x4x2-inch loaf pan with cooking spray; set aside.

  3. Cut biscuits in half crosswise.

  4. In a small bowl combine ground flaxseeds, 1 1/2 teaspoons of the granulated sugar, and the cinnamon.

  5. Roll biscuits in flaxseed mixture to coat.

Step 2

Cover Biscuits with Sauce and Bake

  1. In a small saucepan combine brown sugar, 2 tablespoons orange juice, and butter.

  2. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until boiling.

  3. Pour mixture over biscuits.

  4. Bake about 25 minutes or until edges are golden and biscuits near center are done.

Step 3

Add Icing and Serve

  1. For icing, in a small bowl whisk together cream cheese, 2 teaspoons orange juice, vanilla, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar.

  2. Drizzle bread with icing.

  3. Serve warm.
